Nikah in Islam

Nikah in Islam is a wonderful establishment, as Allah stated most beautifully in the following verse. At extensive areas in the Quran, the glory of Muslim marriage is mentioned as the bond of faith, trust, love, forgiveness, kindness and respect.

And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought?

[Surah Ar-Rum, verse 21]

Strength of Nikah

The Lord created a spouse for us through within to bring us everything this is evidence of the grace of Allah against us as He and He alone announce the 'joy' and 'mercy' that comes into our lives as a result of Nikah.

In sharia, Nikah builds the groundwork of unity and compassion among two people, who both feel connected to Allah and who both fulfill half their religion by having entered a valuable Muslim married life.

Nikah and Deen

Nikah has so much importance in Deen. Our Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) has said,

“When a man marries he has fulfilled half of the ‘deen’; so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half”. [At-Tirmidhi Hadith 3096]

At another place Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) has said,

“Whoever Allah provides with a righteous wife, and then Allah has assisted him in half of his religion. Let him fear Allah regarding the second half”. [al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ 992]

Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) that Nikah is equal to half of deen. This is the importance of Nikah that a person who makes Nikah is declared as he has completed half of Deen.

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik:

Allah's Messenger (P.B.U.H) said, "When a man marries then he fulfills half of the deen, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half."

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith 3096]

Purity in Characters

Nikah is pure that Allah has asked both men and women to select pure partners for each other. Allah has also said that good are for good and bad are for bad. Thus, it is highly instructed to believers that select partners on the basis of their good characters as this is one of the most important things. Allah says in Surah An-Nur, verse 26:

“Wicked women (are) for wicked men, and wicked men (are) for wicked women; and good women (are) for good men, and good men (are) for good women. Those are (declared) quit of whatever they (i.e., of what the wicked ones say) say; they will have forgiveness and an honorable provision”. [24:26]

Hence, Nikah is the most beautiful and pure relationship and so both persons have to respect this bond with the good from their characters and both should be sincere to each other.

Quite well, many relationships have problems arising from the bad character of a spouse, that after they may have been carefully chosen by their spouse. But issues arise in many scenarios when people do not even concentrate on the character of the person individuals are getting engaged to.

Do Not Delay In Nikah

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has been reported to have said,

“Do not delay in three things;

1) The offering of the obligatory prayer.

2) The offering of the funeral prayer when the deceased’s body is present

3) The marriage of a woman when her couple is found”

[Tirmidhi]

From in this declaration one could see that everyone has to function upon the directions given by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to be an absolute and faithful believer. This implies getting married when the spouse is identified, and not holding it too long.

Therefore, all of the above mentioned hadiths and verses show that Nikah is indeed the most beautiful relationship between two people. This blog also tells that since the relationship is very pure and so two people who form this bond should also be pure of their characters. And the most important thing is that we should not delay in Nikah as nothing is more beautiful than Nikah.
