Fight for your Marriage - NikahExplorer

The Messenger of Allah Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said, "There is no foundation that has been built in Islam more loved by Allah, (The Greatest and Noblest) than marriage." We all know that marriage in Islam is a blessed commitment and which brings about the love of Allah towards both the Muslim woman and the Muslim man who enter into it. There is another tradition of the holy Prophet (PBUH) that when a “Muslim husband looks at his Muslim wife with love, Allah looks at both of them with mercy.” Imagine how amazing it is that all your sins are forgiven by Allah just by one look that you give to your husband or your wife. How wonderful is that!  Marriage is THAT kind of a relationship in front of Allah, that is how much He roots for it.

So it is only obvious that the Muslim spouse should try to work things out in their marriage when it goes astray and fight to save it. Fighting for your marriage does not mean forcing your spouse into accepting all your conditions, asking to change themselves or even having to change yourself. Fighting for your marriage in Islam constitutes going towards the right path with the guidance of Allah. And what is the guidance of Allah? It is to systematically ask Him, pray to Him to fix the problems you are facing, meditate about the issues in your marriage and then discuss them with your spouse.

Allah has said in the Quran about the relationship between Muslim husbands and Muslim wives that they are garments of each other which means that not only do they protect and trust each other but a big part of them living together is also communication. So sit down and talk to your spouse and reach a middle ground where you can save your marriage. Appeal to their better nature. Love. Talk. Aplogize. Compromise. And apologize again. THAT is what fighting for your marriage means in the eyes of Allah; to be humble in front of Allah and knowing that He will pull you through this. Remember, that fighting for your marriage means fighting with shaitaan to save it, and Alhamdulillah what better reward can Allah give you than to have you defeat the shaitaan.
