Make Your Marriage Lucky!

Make Your Marriage Lucky! - NikahExplorer

We are living in a world dominated by technology and most recently the trend of social media reigning over our lives is overwhelming. Everyone is on Facebook and everyone likes sharing what their lives are about, all the great things happening, all the tremendous vacations they’re taking, and the colour in their lives surrounding their marriage plans and so on. They share this on social media, their friends take a look and thus begins a string of complains and ultimately depression for the person looking at their friends’ happy lives and happy marriages.

But what people portray on Facebook is just one part of the story. It’s not the whole story. Every marriage has its share of ups and downs. Whereas the ups are put up on Facebook to show the world, the downs, obviously not very pleasant, are not put up on that same social media for the world to see. Hence we as browsers of Facebook wrongly assume that our friends’ marriages are perfect.

Having said that, however, apart from social media the Muslim Marriages that you see in the real world, the ones that have lived for 20 plus years, the ones that have produced great offspring, the ones that you think are perfect, are not because of accident.

The strong and happy marriages of your friends and relatives that you witness, which you think of as “Oh they have it so great, they’re lucky!” are not because they suddenly got lucky and their “qismat” as people put it is great! It is not because Allah handed them their perfect spouse on a platter and now they can live happily ever after.

It is because through the guidance of Allah, the Quran and the sayings of the Holy Prophet, they MADE them so. They made their marriages work. They let Allah be close to them and went on with committing to their wives and kids, raising their offspring with everything they had inspite of disagreements how to do so, they strove together when their financial problems arose, and they loved each other even after the ugly fights they had. They MADE their marriage lucky! Allah held their finger and guided them and they let Allah do so.

And verily Allah does not help a soul till they help themselves. You’re the one who can make your marriage lucky! So stop browsing social media and getting jealous of your friends’ marriages, work on your own to make it lucky yourself to live happily ever after.
