The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said about the relationship between the husband and the wife “When a husband and wife look at each other with love, Allah looks at both of them with mercy.” Love. Kindness. Happiness. Peace. These are the things that make a marriage a very happy one.

Allah has proclaimed marriage as one of the best relationships and has mentioned in the Quran the importance of the institution. A very important part of marriage is the mannerism in which it is conducted. A wedding can be held in different mannerisms but it is the mannerisms of marriage that counts for that includes the relationship of the Muslim husband and wife. The personality of the Muslim husband and the Muslim wife is what matters to make a marriage work.

When a Muslim husband is kind, treats his wife with respect, treats his wife’s family with love, it wins the heart of the wife. Similarly, when a Muslim wife treats her mother-in-law like her own mother and cares for her like her own, it wins the heart of the husband. Treatment is the key; treatment of the Muslim husband by the wife and treatment of the Muslim wife by the husband. Caring for them, loving them, taking care of the little things, speaking kindly, holding the door open – these are mannerisms that count and make your spouse fall in love with you. And when a Muslim husband and Muslim wife fall in love, Allah blesses them with His mercy. Because that love means that they have defeated shaitaan in his pursuit to destroy the relationship. And they have embraced Allah’s way towards paradise.

Money and looks do not count in a relationship. The person counts. The manners count. The kindness counts. And the genuine feelings in a person’s heart for you counts. It’s easy to find a rich spouse, but it’s hard to find a genuine one. Make the search hard for yourself in order to have a life full of kindness and good mannerisms because you deserve it.
