Overcoming Struggles in Marriage - NikahExplorer
It is now very common in society for marriages to last for a very short period of time and fail miserably. The people whose marriages fail are undoubtedly not close enough to the Almighty Allah and do not know his commandments, hence lead a misleading life and misleading marriages. For marriages, specifically Allah has not only asked Muslim couples to live in peace and harmony but also given them the way to strive to get out of the struggles that marriages brings.
Allah has said in the Quran: “If they both cherish the intention and resolve in their mind to realize peace and reconciliation Allah will bless their efforts (in achieving it).” (Qur’an: 4:34)
Allah knows that the marriage between a Muslim man and a woman is bound to have differences of opinions. These will eventually take the shape of struggles in the marriage, which couples are advised by Allah to overcome. The best way to overcome struggles is in the remembrance of Allah along with your spouse. Be calm and enjoin peace in your relationship to the best extent that you can and Insha Allah the blessings of Allah.
Following the lifestyle of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is advised. When The Prophet (PBUH) used to have an argument with his wife, he would recommend a third party to resolve the issues. This was done because he wanted to set an example for all of us.
When Muslim couples are struggling in marriage they should remember this beautiful and strong ayah of the Quran which says: “Allah does not burden anyone except, unless there are able to carry that burden (Qur’an, 2:286).” So we are to believe Allah when He says that we will be able to manage the burden then we WILL be able to manage it. Have belief in yourself and belief in the word of Allah.
Struggling couples should also remember that they should STOP judging each other. They should honour their spouses and try to give as much respect as possible, For the result of respect given is love. When a spouse is shown respect they will automatically reciprocate with love. They should also learn to control their tempers and honour each other’s decisions. And lastly, once again, they should remember that verse of the Quran where Allah says that He has given us the strength to survive the burden. He Suhanwataala has guaranteed that you can handle it.
