Spending Money on your Family - NikahExplorer
Abu Mas’ud Al-Ansari narrated, that Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) said, "When a Muslim spends something on his family intending to receive Allah's reward it is regarded as Sadaqa for him." (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 64, Number 263).
Abu Huraira narrated that Allah’s Apostle said, “Allah said, O son of Adam! Spend and I shall spend on you”. (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 64, Number 264)
Women are physically weak so men are their protector. Women are naturally not fit for routine work or jobs as they get pregnant or periods. Islam recommends that women should not work and she should be a house wife taking care of husband and children.
And Allah says in Surah An-Nisa verse: 34
“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore, the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in the (the husband’s) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part you fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds, (and last) do dharb (have separation); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance) for Allah is Most High, great (above you all)”.
So, a man should spend on his wife and children and also he should give some pocket money to his wife. When a man goes for earning outside, a woman take cares of her husband’s house and his children, so she deserves that money should be spent on her by her husband.
Umar narrated that the Prophet used to sell the dates of the garden of Bani An-Nadir and store for his family so much food as would cover their needs for a whole year. (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 64, Number 270)
It is one of the greatest deeds to spend on family and to fulfill their wishes up to what extent you are able to. If a person is earning the good amount of money then that is the blessing from Allah, so a person must thankful to Allah first and then he should spend some amount on the humans of Allah in which parents, wife and children come foremost. It doesn’t mean that a person spend his entire amount for this sake and doesn’t spend on himself. Allah becomes happy when He sees his person spending the right amount on himself too, he deserves too because he goes out to earn. In all of this a person should take great care of not spending too much or too less but the right amount and he must also keep in mind the poor people also.
