Your Intentions for Marriage - NikahExplorer
Sure, all Muslims get married as prescribed by Islam but how many of us get married for the rights reasons? More than the act of marriage Allah is concerned with the intentions with which a Muslim woman and a Muslim man enter into marriage. Since Allah has made the relationship of marriage the most loved of all, it is obvious that the most important reason for entering marriage is to get Allah’s blessings.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has said about the marriage between a Muslim man and a Muslim woman that “When a husband and wife look at each other with love, Allah looks at both of them with mercy.” Imagine having all your sins washed off you just because Allah looked down upon you with love because you and your spouse were happy. This is the perfect example of a marriage where the husband and wife look to please Allah and get closer to Him.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has said about the intention of getting married by saying that “Marriage completes half your faith, so let Allah question you about the other half.” How amazing is it that getting married and fulfilling that relationship with all honesty completes half your faith. It means you are 50% closer to Jannah just by completing this relationship. That is how much the intention of marriage means to Allah, for a Muslim to have that belief that by getting married he will become closer to Allah because he or she will have completed half their faith.
Muslims intentions for marriage must be the pleasure of Allah. That is why Muslim husband and wife are encouraged to pray with each other as well as pray for each other. Praying together as husband and wife brings the couple closer emotionally and spiritually because Allah blesses their reunion together. It has been reported that Imam Jafar as-Sadiq said that, "Two rak'ats prayed by a married person is better than seventy rak'ats prayed by a single person." Such is the beauty of marriage and if carried out with the right intentions, it has the power for you to attain Jannah very easily. May all of us read that goal IA.
