My self-summary
First and foremost I give praise and thanks to Allah (SWT) for my reversion in November 2012. My life has changed a lot for which I am deeply grateful. I am an intelligent, compassionate, caring & loving person, with an awesome sense of humour. I have two Masters degrees and many post-graduate certificates. I have my own private practice as a Clinical Therapist, Solution-Focused/Cognitive Behavioural Counsellor, Allah (SWT) has blessed me with many gift and talents, for which I am grateful! I had my own business since 1995, however I have been in the field of Mental Wellness & Addiction Recovery for 25 years. I truly enjoy my work. I love to travel and try new things. I have driven race cars (Lamburgini) on a race track; zip lined over the Colorado River; horse back riding in the Colorado Mountains; archeological dig in Eastern Canada (Nova Scotia); down hill mountain biking and hiking and kayaking until I hurt my knee from the motor vehicle accident. I also love to golf and curl. Reading is another big part of my life and continuing education. I want to ensure that I am providing the best quality services to my clients, I am the middle daughter out of 3 (two brothers). My mom (bless her) died in January 2009, however my father is still living - ripe old age of 88 years.
My long term goals
Short-term is to meet a Sunni Muslim and determine if we are compatible. Intermediate - get married. Long-term, have a life filled with happiness and love AND most importantly, attending the Masjid for community prayer, praying together in the home, sharing about Islam and what our faith means to each of us. I want to meet a man who is intelligent, wants to keep learning, travel and talks... I do not want a spouse who is quiet and unresponsive - there is no point. With Allah (SWT) as the core of our marriage.
Things I'm good at and enjoy
I am excellent in my work. I also enjoy gardening, having a few friends over for dinner. I have sold two paintings (some years ago), and I like wood carving; I have all the materials to do stain glass and tile creations. I think above all, I like to learn about life, experience it as it happens. I also love to travel... I am good at this! :-)
The first thing people notice about me
My smile and blue eyes. Many people comment about them. I think I have the gift of allowing people to feel comfortable (I am welcoming).
My family background and values
I was raised as a Christian (Catholic) and reverted to Islam in November 2012. That was the day my whole world changed for the better. I had been searching for years to have a connection with God. I struggled with my faith because I had so many unanswered questions that no one else could seem to answer either - I have a MA in Religious Studies and it did not help. As a family our values were to respect others, be part of the family.... I took care of my mother for 7 years until her death. So I learned compassion and care long before this happened. I grew up in a upper class home - there were formal times and everything in-between. Both of my Meme's resided with us at some point in my life.
What I love most about Islam
What I love the most about Islam is that it is monotheistic. I had searched for most of my life until I reverted. I did not realize it however I think I was a Muslim way before. No make-up, short nails, frequently covering my hair with a scarf or hat (even in High School). Islam is a "way of life" not just something that happens on Sunday, It is a holistic religion! It looks and the spiritual, body, health, relationships... everything. I believe I also like the fact that there is a mutual respect for each other... when I go to the Masjid, the closeness to the other women. And I wear the Hajibb and abayas. This shocked many of my friends, however, while some have been supportive, others have not. This is all part of Allah's (SWT) plan for me.
Things I'm looking for in a partner
I am looking for a loving, compassionate, caring, confident, intelligent man who knows how to treat a woman with kindness and love and respect. We are equals in our marriage. I love the different types of intimacy in our marriage: physical touch, emotional intimacy (sharing thoughts & feelings), doing things together, words of affirmation, etc. AND I TOO would do the same in response. I need someone who likes to be home and relaxing - reading and learning about Islam (because there is always something to learn), watching a movie while cuddling, etc. Someone who can show affection and have intellectual conversations,
You should message me if
You can message me if you feel you can relate to me.... I am 50 years old and I AM SERIOUS ABOUT MARRIAGE. So please, please... I want to meet SERIOUS SUNNI MUSLIM MEN ONLY! Life is not a game.
