Assalamu 'alaikum, I'm a 29 year old revert to Islam. I came into Islam on my own through a lot of research. I actually used to be pretty anti-Islamic. For whatever reason in January of 2012 (I remember this very clearly), I had woken up one day and I had a sudden urge to want to learn about Islam. From there I began to research online and found many free books that I had ordered and read. The more I began to learn, the more I had realized that I was very wrong about Islam due to my own ignorance. I fell in love with the religion. It took me about a year and a half to finally take shahada. I wanted to be sure that I had a good basic foundation of Islam and that it wasn't just a phase. So in September of 2013 I finally took my shahada at the local masjid. Alhamdulillah for the guidance of Allah SWT. Right now I'm working as a project manager for a construction company which is totally unrelated to my political science degree but alhamdulilah it's a good job and everyday is something new. What I do in my free time: I enjoy hanging out with my friends, alhamdulillah I've made many since converting. I enjoy traveling, there's many places I have yet to travel to which I would love to do more in the future, inshaAllah. I absolutely love being outdoors, doing activities such as swimming, kayaking, rafting, hiking, mountain biking, camping. I also do enjoy watching/attending sporting events and do watch movies. I really enjoy learning more about Islam so I enjoy reading and watching/attending lectures about Islam. Personality wise: Honestly at first I can be pretty shy but I do try to open up quickly. I like to help when I can. I'm also someone who loves trying to new things.

My self-summary

My long term goals

Long term goals are to become successful as a husband, a father, and most importantly, a Muslim. I would also like to can live comfortably to care for my family as well as others. InshaAllah I would also like to become a hafiz of the Quran.

Things I'm good at and enjoy

Things I enjoy, I already touched base on this a little earlier but I love being with friends, traveling, being outdoors, trying new things, learning more about Islam. Things I'm good at, I would say I'm good at being a friend. I love to be able to help when needed and I'm always available to talk to them whenever they need to talk.

The first thing people notice about me

I guess usually my beard or eyes?

My family background and values

My family is from the States here. Culturally we're a mix of Irish and German. They're not Muslim but they do accept that I am, alhamdulillah. I do still visit family on holidays but don't partake in the celebrations.

What I love most about Islam

I love the community aspect that Islam has. Just about everything in Islam is built on the foundation of community.

Things I'm looking for in a partner

First and foremost, I'm looking for someone who is religious and makes Islam her priority. I want someone who I can really enjoy being myself around and who I can have fun with. Someone I can joke around with and yet still have deep conversations about serious issues. I'm looking for someone who also enjoys trying and experiencing new things, someone who would enjoy traveling. I want a spouse who is loyal, smart, funny, outgoing, pious, honest, caring, and loving. I'm looking for someone who I can grow with as a Muslim, where we can learn from one another. Since my family isn't Muslim, they would have to be okay with that as well. I'm also not really into big cultural weddings, personally I'd want a simple nikkah and a small intimate walima and hopefully she would share that view as well. What I'm not looking for: If you smoke hookah, that's definitely a no. If you have close friends of the opposite gender, I'd hope that you'd change that before marrying someone.

You should message me if

You're looking for someone to grow with physically and spiritually and you don't mind marrying a convert.
