How husband and wife should lead their married Life - NikahExplorer

The marriage relationship is characterized in the Quran as having "tranquilly," "love," and "kindness." The Prophet Muhammad famously remarked that "marriage is half of faith," so all Muslims are encouraged to get married when they find suitable partners for them. According to Islamic historians, the Prophet was referencing to both the safety that marriage provided while keeping one away from wrong-doing and the challenges that married couples will have to endure with patience, understanding, and trust.

Taking care of rights and duties

In Islam, marriage is constituted by legally enforceable rights and obligations for both partners, which go hand in hand with sentiments of love and trust. These obligations and responsibilities offer a framework for the harmony of family system and the personal fulfillment of both partners in an environment of respect and understanding.

Following are some very basic rights and duties which must be taken care by both spouses towards each other:

• Treat your spouse with respect, honor, and dignity.

• To build both mental compatibility and intimate relationship between each other.

• To raise children by paying attention and love of both parents.

• To lead a married life by Allah’s will.

• To maintain one's individuality and legal status even after getting married. Muslim women are still allowed to use their own family names, inherit land, have mahr, etc.

• The man has a responsibility to provide for the entire family's physical maintenance (housing, clothing, shelter, food, medical care, etc.).

Never feel Marriage as a burden

Nowadays, there are many young man and woman who prefer late marriages because they think that by marrying, they would not be able to pursue their dreams and their career.

However, marriage is never a trap and it should not be made a trap by this society. Marriage must be celebrated and marriage must be made easier for both man and woman. Man should not restrict their wives to speak, think, study, or job when wife is on the right track and if she is able to balance both her dreams and home. Wife should also be conscious that her wishes and dreams would not violate the rules of Islam. Moreover, Wife should also not stop her husband to grow and progress; rather, wife should make ease and comfort for her husband to let him prosper and grow.

This is how a marriage relationship works for both man and woman. Both genders should help each other to lift up. Man and woman in a relationship should also educate each other about Islamic and worldly knowledge. Furthermore, they could also point out flaws in each other and they can correct those flaws, but in a very respectable and polite way.

Marriage gives a person love, understanding, growth, peace, support, and happiness, if married life is led according to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. Hence, Nikah is a very positive thing which could happen to someone, and it can never be a burden

As Allah says in Quran in Surah Ar-Rum, verse 21:

“And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you compassion and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect [30: 21] ”.

Self-Evaluation and Self-Grooming

When a married couple begins towards making family, they frequently neglect their own needs. Continuous self-improvement is one of the most crucial advices for a successful marriage. This entails developing God-given potentials in addition to maintaining excellent appearances for the spouse.

Moreover, learning never stops. The more a person educate him/her own self, the more he/she is able to be a better person for his/her spouse. Self-grooming is very important both in terms of appearances and knowledge. An example of this could be that if a person daily consume knowledge of Islam, he/she is able to be a better human and a better human is always good towards his/her relationship. Being human is not just to learn few things and make others show that you have ample knowledge, rather being a good human is to learn and implement knowledge in actions. And actions always speak louder than words.

Honesty and Trust

Honesty is not only important in married life but it is also important in every relationship whether it could be family, friends, or office employees. An honest man cannot be misled or failed.

The channels of communication among married couples must be clear and open, regardless of whether they are discussing financial issues or concerns about betrayal. Relationships frequently suffer from distrust, which is commonly caused by lack of confidence in one's spouse. To reduce marital problems, partners need to be honest.

Hence, all of the above teachings of Islam is reflecting the perfect ways to lead a happy married life.
